I used a bandsaw for the next step, but a carvig knife will do just as well.

Ich habe eine bandsäge benutzt, um den nächsten Schritt zu machen, aber ein Schnitznesser tut´s auch.

Make all stop cuts first.

Erst alle Stopcuts machen.

When making the stop cuts on the sides of the nose make sure the knife is straight up and down and not slanting into the nose. Otherwise it will make the nose look goofy.

Messer soll senkrecht sein bei den Stopcuts an der Nase und nicht schräg, sonst wird die Nase doof aussehen

Start with the top of the hat.

Mit Oberteil des Hutes beginnen.

Now bevel the hat rim.

Den Hutrand anschrägen.

Rounding off the top of the head.

Oberen Kopfbereich abrunden.

Make v-cut between face and hair.

V-Schnitt zwischen Haare und Gesicht.

Remove wood from each side of nose.

Neben der Nase freischneiden.

Bevel cheeks and bottom of hair.

Backen und Haare anschrägen.

Rounding up to the nose

Unter der Nase abrunden.

Finishing the nose.

Die Nase fertig schnitzen.

Form the mouth and bevel the upper lip.

Mund formen, und Oberlippe anschrägen.

Rounding of the beard.

Bart abrunden.

Leave enough of the flat surface in the bottom of the figure so it can stand on it´s own.

Lass genug vom flache Oberfläche am unteren Ende, so dass die Figur stehen kann.

Bevel the eyebrows.

Augenbrauen anschrägen.

Takeing out a chip as shown makes a deepening effect at this part of the carving

Nächster Schritt verleiht tiefe.

Now round off the hair.

Die Haare abruonden.

Magnet is 6 mm  in diameter and 2 mm  thick.

Magnet ist 6 mm  Durchmesser und 2 mm  dick.

Insert magnet into the hole with knife, pull knife across like spreading butter on bread. This wil position the magnet perfectly flush with the surface of the wood.

Magnet ins Loch mit messer stecken, Messer herunterziehen wie Butter auf´s Brot schmieren. Der Magnet ist jetzt genau eben mit der Oberfläche vom Holz.

You can now attach to a metal surface ( fridge ) or it can stand on it´s own.

Jetzt auf metal stecken ( Kühlschrank ), oder die Figur kann stehen.
